It;s not like I've stopped researching this family of mine but keeping this blog up to date seems to be the last item to do - but I want to keep a record of what has been happening so will carry on.
* Oct. 4 - Bobbie wrote to me about the George Stokes family again.
"I found George Stokes living with his parents in Monck, Muskoka, Canada in 1871 on the Canadian census. 1880 US census George and Susanna were living in Drayton, Pembina Co, Dakota Territory. They must have come to the US with the Kelly's or a little before the rest of the family. John Kelly, her dad, was listed on the census with them. The 1885 Dakota Territory census lists them as George 36, Susie 25, Ida 5, Desmond 3, Laura 1. The kids were all born in Dakota."
* October 6 - I heard from Ken Tovell - a relative of Willard Tovell, Teenie's husband. "My name is Ken Tovell and am a great-nephew of Willard and Margaret. I do vaguely remember their visits to the farm and the attached picture is of one of the visits in the carvan or caravan, as they called it. Unfortunately the picture is not of great quality. The farm was east of Olds, Alberta" Ken sent this photo and newspaper article:
* October 17 - applied to be a member of a self-run Ontario geneology website developed and kept up by Michael Stephenson. Cost is $200 annually and I may yet join up.
* October 18, rec'd membership in AMICUS - database of the Library archives of Canada
* October 19 - to Bracebridge on the way to Ottawa. Checked the public library book of the farms in 1879 - John Kelly had a farm one farm down from George Stokes. Also found information in a local history that stated John kelly was one of the first elders in the presbyterian church in BRacebridge in
